Sprouts Cafe General

Under the supervision of a shift leader, you will be working in the Sprouts cafe with a team of student volunteers to serve coffee, tea, and delicious food to the community. You will be a part of and contribute to a warm environment while helping promote local, organic, and fair-trade food. 

Morning shifts involve prepping food and serving breakfast, lunch shifts focus on serving food, and afternoon shifts prep food for the next day and clean up.

Volunteers are required to commit to weekly 2-3 hour shifts. Choose between the hours of Monday to Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM.


Community Eats

Many helping hands are needed to help with providing a delicious by-donation lunch to the community every Friday. From food pick ups, cooking, and serving hungry friends, volunteering at Community Eats is a great way to see how just a few people getting together on an environmental initiative can impact a huge community. 

Community Eats Kitchen Members

Come prep stews and salads to be served at Community Eats on Fridays, all the while snacking on delicious donated produce. Commitment is a weekly 2-3 hour shift between 5pm-8pm on Thursdays

Server

Serve lunch to hungry folks on Fridays at Sprouts between 10am and 2pm. Also help with set up and take down of community eats. Great shift with lots of happy customers!

*All CE volunteers get to skip the CE line on Fridays!

SPROUTS CAFE PREP

Under the guidance and supervision of the kitchen manager, volunteers will help prepare, cook, and bake food to be served in the Sprouts cafe. A typical shift involves: Chopping veggies and mixing up spices for our stew, baking delicious bread and baked goods, and cleaning up the kitchen after cooking with the team.

If you are interested in experiencing what it is like to cook in an industrial kitchen, meeting other foodies, and developing your kitchen skills, come lend a hand in our kitchen! No experience is necessary, as our kitchen managers and assistants will be on-site to share their knowledge and provide assistance. 

Volunteers are required to commit to weekly 2-3 hour shifts, 5-8 PM on a Sun-Wed night.


Sproutsmobile/Driver

Drive around Vancouver to collect donations for our various initiatives or drop off prepared food. Accepting applications on a rolling basis. Drive using your own vehicle or our modo car share account!


Community Fridge Volunteer

Stock and clean the community fridge! Shifts spaced throughout the week to restock with donations and make sure everything is clean and safe.


Produce Market Volunteer

Set up, manage and take down the weekly by-donation produce market. Get first pick at the produce too!
